Civil War BattlesSo how many Civil War battles were there? The simple answer is, there were a lot of them. In fact there were hundreds. Of course these were not all Gettysburg size encounters. Some of the battles of the Civil War were very small and most people probably never heard of most of them, but they are interesting nonetheless. There were literally hundreds of battles fought throughout the war. Civil War casualties were very low in these battles and they did not involve very many soldiers. For this reason they are not as well-known as the more famous battles of the Civil War such as Bull Run, Gettysburg, Antietam, Chancellorsville, Vicksburg, The Wilderness, Jonesboro, or New Orleans. So here you go, below is a Civil War timeline, which lists every state in which there was a battle, from Alabama to West Virginia. Simply pick a state and see detailed information about any battle that took place there.
